Gather for food and fun at The Gathering

A two-for-one coupon in today’s section, live magic at your table Thursday through Saturday nights, live jazz on Friday night, great food, fun people and a nice location.

Those are six good reasons to visit The Gathering - one of the best neighborhood restaurants in all of San Diego. The owner is Dan Thomas, who also performs the magic tricks. His restaurant has been a Mission Hills favorite for many years. Last year he moved across the street, which enhanced the popularity of The Gathering, where break-last, lunch and dinner earn equal billing.

You come here to enjoy good food and good times. Currently, Dan is serving a special top sirloin steak dinner for just $9.50. It’s available all the time and no coupon is required to enjoy this special. The 12-ounce steak is char-broiled to perfection and presented with fresh vegetables, potatoes, salad and bread. (The two-one-coupon is good for breakfast, lunch or appetizers.)

Other dinner specialties include the barbecued mahi-mahi, the seafood crab cakes that come with aioli sauce (a strong garlic mayonnaise), the plump jumbo sea scallops served with teriyaki and bacon and several seafood dishes.

One of The Gathering’s signature dishes is the chicken Dijon - a boneless chicken breast marinated in wine, rosemary and mustard then broiled to perfection.

For breakfast, try the special omelets or the eggs Benedict. At lunch The Gathering lists delectable salads and sandwiched. Find this charmer at the corner of Washington and Goldfinch. Call 260-0400
